Strengthening direct relations between regions of the Russian Federation and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) will create opportunities for expansion and further development of trade and economic ties between Russia and Vietnam. This opinion was expressed by the Chairman of the Russian-Vietnamese Guild of Commerce (RVGC) Alexander Karpov in a conversation with a TASS correspondent on the eve of the Russian President Vladimir Putin's state visit to Vietnam on June 19-20.

A. Karpov has said the following “We believe that precisely strengthening and development of relations between the regions of the two countries will become a bridge for intensification and further expansion of trade, economic and investment ties between Russia and Vietnam as a whole.” He announced that during the state visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the agreement on mutual understanding and cooperation is expected to be signed between the RVGC and the central Vietnamese province of Thừa Thiên Huế. The subject of this agreement is the development of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, and organizing joint efforts in order to strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, including the fields of information technologies, such as high-speed communication, smart automation systems, and development of digital transformation models.“ In this context, the Russian-Vietnamese Guild of Commerce, which has already signed agreements with 17 constituent entities of the Russian Federation on cooperation and promotion of Russian regions to Asian markets, will become a window of opportunity for exporting both Russian goods and investment opportunities to the Vietnamese market and vice versa,” as noted by the Chairman of RVGC.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay the state visit to Vietnam on June 19-20. Hanoi will host meetings with the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, the President to Lam, the Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Manh. The negotiations are expected to focus on developing the partnership between Moscow and Hanoi. Phaethongthan ‘Ung Ing’ Chinawat (แพทองธาร ชินวัตร; Paetongtarn Shinawatra), the leader of the Pheu Thai Party and the youngest daughter of the former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra (2001-2006), has been elected as Thailand's new Prime minister.

The President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin and the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh took part in the celebrations marking the 85th anniversary of the joint victory of Soviet and Mongolian armed forces over the Japanese militarists on the river Khalkhin Gol.

The two Leaders laid a wreath at the monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov at the Georgy Zhukov Memorial Complex in Ulaanbaatar.

In 1939, Georgy Zhukov was awarded the first golden star of the Hero of the Soviet Union for the operation on the Khalkhin Gol river, which resulted in victory of the Soviet-Mongolian forces over the Japanese Kwantung Army. In 1969, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Mongolian People’s Republic.
